Mount Everest stands as the tallest mountain on our planet, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World. Known as Sagarmāthā by the local community, the revered “Mother Goddess of the World” has deep cultural and religious significance to the Sherpa communities that live in Nepal. As humans continue to expand our impact on earth, even this remote area is now affected by an international community of people. Last year, more than 12,000 kilos, 26,000 lbs. of untreated human waste accumulated from climbers and their crews at Mount Everest Base Camp.
In order to preserve this mountain’s majestic beauty, action is required to implement a sanitation solution that ensures the safe disposal of this mounting environmental and human health hazard. Volunteers from the U.S., Nepal, and other countries are working together and we need your help.
Thank you for your support in this critical effort. ~ Garry Porter, Project Manager
